Cowart Announces Enhancement of Infrared Scanning


Cowart Electric & Industrial Contractors Inc. is pleased to announce an improvement to a service we have performed for the past ten years. Our infrared scanning service is being improved with the addition of a new Rayteon thermal imaging camera.

This camera is used to make thermal (infrared) and visual pictures on anything in the institutional, commercial, or industrial field where hot or cold temperatures could cause problems. It can be used to locate potential problems from loose connections in electrical switch gear, panels, or ups battery banks. The camera can also be used to locate wet insulation under roof structures, heat or cold loss in buildings, heat distribution in injection molds, steam boiler insulation problems, bearing or winding problems in electric motors, etc. We scan and photograph your electrical switch gear and panels for potentially hazardous loose connections. An unnoticed loose connection in an electrical main can break down and cause loss of power and possible fire. This service, performed yearly, can possibly help you avoid very costly emergency repairs and help your business meet the requirements of health care organizations or insurance companies.

Load Bank Testing for Standby Generators and UPS Systems

What is a load bank?
Load banks are devices designed to provide electrical loads for testing power sources such as generators and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS). Load banks are also used to reduce "wet stacking" problems in diesel engines of backup generating systems. They are used in a variety of ways including factory testing of generator sets, periodic exercising of standby engine generator sets, battery system testing, ground power testing, load optimization in prime power applications, and factory testing of turbines.
